Cheng Yen Pheng

b. 1986 in Malaysia (currently lives in Selangor)
Cheng Yen Pheng creates works from her everyday life. The artist makes paper from the mulberry trees that she grows and composes the work by weaving and sewing the daily motifs and natural objects. In Fukuoka, Cheng is planning to research markets and shopping arcades that exist closely with people’s daily life and gather necessary materials for her work. Cheng received the 2019 United Oversea Bank Painting of the Year (Malaysia) Award and will be staying in Fukuoka for one month.
