Kabir Ahmed Masum Chisty

Born in 1976 in Narayanganj, Bangladesh.
[Residence Program] Oct 14, 2014〜Nov 16, 2014
Activities during the residency
Chisty held three workshops during his stay in Fukuoka. In the first, he invited 104 third-graders from a local elementary school to create pastel drawings inspired by “what I dreamed last night.” Creating a sequence from the 105 resulting images, he made an animated video. Three weeks later, he held another workshop – this time to create a soundtrack for the animation with 39 sixth-graders from another elementary school. Dividing the students into groups, and using instruments and objects from a home economics classroom, Chisty had the students make improvised sounds as they watched the video. He then asked local musician Sakaguchi Kazuhiko to edit the students’ sounds before finalizing the video, The Dream that We had Together Last Night. Chisty also held a third workshop, “Changing the Past!,” in which he invited 124 third-year middle school students to remodel old toys.
Chisty also displayed his video installation Cocoon at a gallery during FT5, rounding out his rich contributions to the event.
