Activities during the residency

Focusing on Hakata’s history and traditional culture, Togar created the Museum of Takeshi Bonsai in collaboration with Fukuoka-based artists. Togar used an imaginary figure, Takeshi Bonsai, who once lived in Hakata for this project. He is recognizable by his identical afro hairstyle, which was also reflected in the design of various local crafts. The museum collects the objects with his subtle trace and sought to reconstruct the history of Hakata from an anonymous perspective.
