Chen’s recent practice (since 2023) focuses on the politics of sound, examining its impurity and the contextual structures that frame it. His works reveal how sound can discipline and regulate human behavior, while exposing the tensions between perception and production. Through spatial presentation, Chen juxtaposes weighty conceptual frameworks with paradoxical humor, balancing gravity with lightness.
During his residency in Fukuoka, he will continue his observations of urban landscapes, local sounds, and human behaviors, exploring how sound shapes memory and identity. The collected materials will be re-edited and transformed into sculptures and sound installations, guiding audiences through a fluid audiovisual environment.
