A person may live in more than one home over the course of his or her lifetime. Although the shape and structure of each home can vary depending on its surrounding environments and prevailing culture, a home is always a symbol of spiritual ease and warmth. Imagine the feeling of comfort and protection that you experience when you are in your home, sitting at the table with your family, relaxing in the living room, soaking in a warm bath, or enjoying a good night’s sleep in your comfortable bed. A home always provides invaluable opportunities to unwind.
Homes are focal points of our lives. This exhibition recognizes that many people have experienced not only comfort in their homes, but have also faced the destruction of older homes in the wake of modernization; others have been forced to flee their homelands because of war or destitution. There are as many different stories as there are homes.
We feel safe and secure when we have a home to which we can return. This sense of ease creeps into our hearts and we take it for granted over time. This exhibition is divided into two parts. In the first section, we are encouraged to think about individual homes and backgrounds, inspired by a number of works with the theme of “home.” In the second part, the featured works lead us to think about the people who meet a particular fate while searching for a place to call home.
My Home
A home is a place to return to and is the foundation of our everyday lives. This part of the exhibition communicates various stories through works with the theme of “home.
In Search of My Home
In this world, there are people who lose their homes due to war or unthinkable catastrophe. Contrary to our general notion of security, a home may not be meant to last forever – it may simply represent a place of passage. The second part of this exhibition focuses on such ephemeral aspects of living spaces.
