Along with the Opening Talk of the exhibition, WINDS OF ARTIST IN RESIDENCE 2024: Arising from the Margins, we are delighted to announce the event RRD×YATAI BAR TAIYA by Shimodera Takanori and Bruno Ruiz, both invited to join the artist in residence program (Shimodera in 2022 and Ruiz in 2024 respectively).

Bar will serve drinks and foods, including ones inspired by Mexican food, where Bruno Ruiz is based. Everyone is welcome to join us after the talk!

■Bruno Ruiz
Residency Period: Oct.5-Dec.25, 2024
Born in 1990 in Mexico, based in Mexico City. While working within the collective Red de Reproduccióny Distribución (RRD), he incorporates self-publishing and a kiosk into artistic practice, which examines the autonomy of art in public space. For this exhibition, while making his own network “enabling underground publishing around the globe,” with people passionate about printing, he presents new work based on research about gariban(mimeograph), together with some references.

■Shimodera Takanori
Residency Period: Jan.10 – Mar.10, 2023
Shimodera has been researching on food stalls in Asian countries since he was a university student, and now works as a food stall (yatai) researcher. While traveling throughout the cities in different countries of Asia, Shimodera observes and records people’s behavior on the streets, and is engaged in practical activities delving into the production and distribution of food stalls.
