Artist in Residence Program

Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (FAAM) invites local and international artists, including but not limited to those from Asian regions, for a certain period, to provide them with opportunities to create and present their artworks in Fukuoka, so that they encourage and inspire each other to achieve their full potential globally from Fukuoka city. Through conducting various artistic exchange programs with local citizens, it hopes to nurture a deeper understanding of Asian contemporary art and cultures and to foster a diverse range of local cultures. Furthermore, FAAM aims to become an interactive platform for Asian art, through efforts such as building an international human and organizational network.

Open call for the Artist in Residence Program FY2026

Residency Period

1st period: mid-July – mid-October, 2026 (approx. 90 days)
2nd period: October – December, 2026 (approx. 80 days)
3rd period: mid-January – March, 2027 (approx. 70 days)

* Period of residency will be decided according to the proposed project plan and discussion between the applicants and FAAM.

Number of Artists

Number of artists invited through the open call:
First Period: 　around 2 (persons/groups)
Second Period: around 2 (persons/groups)
Third Period: around 2 (persons/groups)

* If an application is submitted as a group, only 1 person receives financial support by FAAM.

* There are no restrictions on the applicant’s place of residence or nationality.
