Room for FAAM Residence Program Vol.2 Summer Special: Residence Program Workshops

Since its inauguration in 1999, the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (FAAM) has conducted its Residence Program, which invites artists and researchers from Asia every year to stay for a certain period and cultivate exchanges through collaborative art-making, workshops, talks and other programs with citizens. Through the Residence Program, FAAM intends to promote local people’s further understanding of Asian arts and cultures, which is expected for us to become a hub of artistic exchanges in Asia.

In the second exhibition of 2020, we feature art workshops. As part of the residency exchange activities, the museum has been running over 300 workshops since its opening. The workshops conducted by resident artists fall into three categories: (1) Immersion in the traditions and culture of the artist’s home country; (2) hands-on session based on the artist’s techniques and methods; (3) participation in a live art project. This exhibition showcases the previous workshops through three different themes and provides an opportunity for visitors to experience them. We hope you will enjoy our workshops.
