Xu Bing: The 14th Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize Commemorative Exhibition

It is our great pleasure to announce Xu Bing, a Chinese artist, as the Arts and Culture Prize laureate of the 14th Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize, 2003.  To commemorate his prizewinning, we have organized a special exhibition.

Xu Bing has played an active role in the contemporary art scenes of both Asia and the West.  When his work was exhibited at the 1st Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale in 1999, his work also achieved great popularity among the people of Fukuoka.

This exhibition includes some works which have never been shown in Japan.  We sincerely hope that this exhibition will provide many people a chance to experience firsthand the unique and mystical art of the written language by Xu Bing.
