History – Asian Art Show II（1985）

The History – Asian Art Show is the series that introduces each of the past four Asian Art Shows held in the Fukuoka Art Museum from 1979 to 1994.  In this exhibition, following the ‘History – Asian Art Show I (1980)’ held last year, introduces the 2^nd Asian Art Show held in 1985, 19 years ago.

‘The Asian Art Show’ was the exhibition to present most up to date tendencies of art in Asia.  It started off from ‘Asian Artists Exhibition Part II’ held in 1980 and counted 5 exhibitions almost every five years (1985, 1989, and 1994).  The contents of the exhibitions enriched at each time as the data on Asian contemporary art and the know-how of organising exhibitions are accumulated.  The human network also developed and curators became more specialised in Asian contemporary art.  In addition, acquiring selected exhibits fulfilled the collection of Asian art.
