<span style=”font-size: 13pt;”>Welcome to the Ajibi Fashion Show!
Art Meets Fashion presents pieces by contemporary artists who have drawn on and incorporated fashion into their work.

Throughout the ages people have long been drawn to the latest styles and a sense of the fashionable. Contemporary artists are not insensitive to this, and awareness of trends and fashion movements can be seen in their work. Artists, however, do not simply show us
changing fashion trends in society in their work. Their work is rich in social comment that asks questions, critiques, draws attention to issues, or offers solutions.

For example, in Chakkrit Chimnok piece the shoes and clothes made from banana leaves brings to mind environmental issues and recycling. In Truong Tan work the camouflage pattern dress casts doubt over the wars repeatedly waged in the name of peace. The veiled female in Aisha Khalid work draws attention to the issues relating to the position of women in male society. In this way art featuring fashionable dress and accessories raise many different issues affecting the world.

We hope that by enjoying the slightly eccentric fashion show presented by the collection visitors will see more than the fashion sense of Asian artists, but the thought and social
reality within the pieces.
