Tibetan Buddhist Art collections housed at The Hahn Cultural Foundation exceed 900 in total, making it the world’s largest in this field. The number of scroll Buddhist paintings known as Thangka in the collection is especially unrivaled.

The Foundation began organizing its collections and editing catalogues in 1996, followed by the publication of the first and second volumes of Art of Thangka, both of which were translated into Japanese.

In 1999, Hwajeong Museum run by The Hahn Cultural Foundation was founded in Seoul City, where its first exhibition, Art of Thangka, was held to commemorate its opening.

This exhibition is based on and elaborates on the outline of the said opening show, the basic concept of which is to present an overview of Tibetan art by 92 artworks firmly selected while balancing between dates, regions, and genres, out of over 900 collections in the museum.
