After the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Japan and South Korea, unprecedented “Korean boom (Hanryu)” was followed in Japan.  Now, Korean culture spreads around our everyday life more widely and becomes more familiar than ever after the war.  However, while the latest films and dramas are often shown, visual arts in “the neighbor country” are less well known.

In this exhibition, several streams of “Korean Style” in Korean contemporary art are explored introducing Abstract Expression that became mainstream from the 60s to the 70s, expressions by artists in the 80s who broke new ground inheriting the development of the Abstract Expression, and current art works using various mediums such as video art and installation.
