Since the birth of the New China in 1949, propaganda pictures have been widely distributed in homes and workplaces across China. Despite their strong political context, they have vividly illustrated the people’s dreams and hopes for a promised brighter future.
Primarily focused on posters printed during the Cultural Revolution, to be displayed for the first time, the show features 45 artworks, including works by artists of a newer generation that incorporate images from propaganda posters, exploring their past and current situations.
