The 11th Winds of Artist in Residence 2011 Part 1

Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (FAAM) has been conducting the Artist in Residence Program in which up-coming artists from Asian countries and regions are invited and promote diverse art exchange programs including production and workshops since the opening of FAAM in 1999.

For this year’s first half of the program, Jupiter Pradhan from Nepal was invited and stayed for 70days from June, 2011. We are pleased to announce an exhibition, Winds of Artist in Residence 2011- Part1-, highlighting the achievements of the artist during his time in Fukuoka.

Jupiter Pradhan produced an installation work reflecting the culture and festivals of his own country, Nepal and here Fukuoka as employing and fusing various media such as painting, scripture, film making and ceramic art and held art workshops based on Nepalese culture for junior high school students and mothers with babies and infants. Although within 70days limited period, Jupiter Pradhan made an achievement surely and we would like to invite you to see the outcome of those exchanges in this exhibition.
