Cheong Kiet Chen has stayed in Fukuoka for about a month since May 7 and created more than ten paintings in this short period of time.

During her stay, she walked around Hakata area and visited nearby islands including Iki island. By collecting the fragments of mythological stories remained in Fukuoka, she created a series of paintings featuring gods, women, and natural objects like trees and birds. She has also visited the Yame region, the area affected by the 2012 rainstorm. With the support by NPO Sansonjuku, Cheong met people there and worked together to complete a series of paintings.

All these works will be displayed at the museum from June 1 to 25. The artist will give a talk on an opening day at 13:30.
