SUNSHOWER: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia 1980s to Now

Following the rapid economic growth of the region, Southeast Asia's contemporary Art came to obtain much attention in the international art scene. Just like "sunshower," sudden rainfall in the sunshine, the development and difficulty cannot be separated in the history of Southeast Asian art. The exhibition covers a wide range of art from 10 Southeast Asian countries from the 1980s to present during which the area experienced colonialization and independence, dictatorship and democratization, as well as economic growth and widening of the economic gap through multiple perspectives such as striving for freedom, community, and history.

2. Singapore's the Artist's Village and Fukuoka-based artists

This talk seeks to deepen a history of an art exchange between Singapore and Fukuoka that started in the 1990s with the talk by a participating artist, Koh Nguang How, and a roundtable conversation between him and Ushijima Hitoshi, an artist participated the exhibition in Singapore, and Koga Yoshihiro, an artist.
