■Period:26 March, 2015 - 26 May, 2015
■Venue:Asia Gallery B
In commemoration of the Singapore's 50th anniversary, National Gallery Singapore is scheduled to open in October, 2015. Refurbished the former Supreme Court and the City Hall building and with its rich museum collection of Singaporean and Southeast Asian arts, the Gallery will be the largest art museum in the region after its opening.

The Gallery and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (FAAM) formed the long-term bond of co-operation in 2010 for furthering exchange through (1) Loan of Collection, (2) Co-organisation of exhibitions, (3) Academic research, and (4) Exchange training programme for curatorial/ managerial staff. Since the conclusion of the agreement, the FAAM has been working closely with the Gallery on various activities, such as implementing the exhibition of the FAAM collection together with loaned artworks from the Gallery and researches for the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale, etc. At the inauguration of the Gallery in October this year, the FAAM will specially exhibit 36 artworks from the FAAM collection at the Gallery for 2 years (some to be for 1 year). It means that the FAAM collection, which has been amassed by Fukuoka City over years have both of indispensable importance and artistic value for the modern and contemporary art in Southeast Asia .

Although this exhibition only shows a few of representative artworks from the 36 pieces, the loan works covers Vietnam War propaganda posters, woodcut prints created around the time of the independence of Singapore, and etc. Juxtaposed and exhibited with the Gallery collection, audiences will discover a new value and charm of these FAAM collection pieces and spin their new story. Please visit Singapore to see the special exhibition at the Gallery!
