This is the fifth exhibition of “Arts and people” series. “Jian zhi” or the paper-cutout in China has been used as decorations for various everyday occasions, including the Lunar New Year, embroidery pattern-making, festivals to pray for good health, funerals and so on.
Instead merely introducing its subjects, forms, and techniques, this exhibition delves deeper into the secret of the Jian zhi by focusing on the people’s livelihood and the women, who created the paper-cutouts in the Huangtu Plateau.
Furthermore, the exhibition will provide much insight into a “field work” on the people’s life and its enjoyment through workshops.
