■ Artist Bai Tian Yuan Born in 1992. Lives in Singapore. Awarded the 29th Painting of the Year at the United Oversears Bank.
■ Artist statement With an inclination towards exploring the process of transition, this series of ink portraits is based on my experience of becoming familiar with a foreign environment during the course of my one-month residency in the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (FAAM), Japan....The fluidity and freeness of the ink helps to express my perception of human relationships, which define our comfort zones and aid in the adaptation to an unknown place.
