Wu Mali
Born in Taipei, 1957
Lives and works in Taipei
The artist is staying in Fukuoka for 2 months from the middle of August to develop “Kuroshio Project”. By focusing on the ocean that connects Southeast Asia and East Asia, she tries to rediscover the commonalities with ‘others’ through her careful research to excavate local stories hidden under the grand narrative of history. She plans to present workshops with local researchers of floating objects and local historians in addition to her research on the festivals around the Kuroshio region.
Chen Chieh-jen
Born in Taoyuan (Taiwan), 1960
Lives and works in Taipei
He presents a digitally treated old historical photograph. Highlighting war, violence, tragedy and dark sides of the history, he guides viewers to receive these facts seriously. In FT3 he shows a new work, “Bade Area”. Bade Area is a town in Taipei which has been left out from the overwhelming flow of globalisation. He invites labourers in the area to appear in the work in order to present personal histories and significance of their memory against the ‘Grand Narrative’.

He makes autobiographic but universal work based on his experience as a child. “I despise presumption” is a video work which shows the daily routines of children in a kindergarten, but the eyes of all the children are closed. For “What had been done?”, four rooms are constructed in the gallery and scenes of somewhat insane daily life from the boy’s viewpoint are projected.
