Alwin Reamillo
Born in Manila, 1964
Lives and works in Fremantle (Australia)
He involves a wide range of people and material through his “hunting and gathering” process of working. The created work is so-called social sculpture as it is generated through a close communication with people in different communities. He is making a whale-shaped car in Fukuoka as the third project of the same after Australia and New Zealand.
Nona M. Garcia
Born in Quezon (Philippines), 1978
Lives and works in Marikina City (Philippines)
The realistic painting looks like a photograph. It shows a discarded car she found in Bangkok when she visited there. She paints the objects and places that have lost their original function such as a burnt ambulance and abandoned hospital. The paintings are made through her severe observation and convey some nostalgia at the same time.
