Lives and works in Yangon
“Cloud Department”, is a series of paintings of clouds, reflecting the change of emotions of a girl who is growing up to be a mature woman. In her video work, a repetition of the two scenes ? ants on the wall and the train with noise -- represents the inner fantasy of a woman who is distant from reality. She is drawn back to reality when the train passes by. The experimental paintings and video breathe new life into the contemporary art scene in Myanmar.
Pyoe Kyi
Born in Taunggyi (Myanmar), 1977
Lives and works in Mingun (Myanamar)
“Conflict in the Confluence” shows his relationship with his mother after they lost the father. His mother is not yet convinced by him being an artist as she went though difficulties after she lost her husband when the son was still small. The story of the young mother and the artist as a child, and that of the old mother and the current artist is told through ordinary daily conversations. He is one of the new generation of artists in Myanmar.
