Bangladesh
Nazlee Laila Mansur
Born in Rajshahi (Bangladesh), 1952
Lives and works in Chittagong (Bangladesh)
“Luis Kahn’s Dream” series is based on the incidents which happened around the National Assembly Hall of Bangladesh designed by the famous architect, Louis Kahn. The artist juxtaposes political issues and incidents such as a kidnap of a girl and sexual abuse against a girl which became big issues at the time.
Abdus Salam
Born in Comilla (Bangladesh), 1971
Lives and works in Dhaka
He draws graffiti-like drawings on existing film posters in psychedelic colours to effectively express vulgarity. The “Realistic Fantasy” series looks like reproductions of film posters. However, it contains the element of a fictitious story of didactic justice as well as the political crisis of contemporary society in order to question what reality is and what fantasy is.
